This March we began the first phase of repairs and updates to the Historic Firehall building next to the Andes Hotel. The Firehall houses the Andes Thrift Shop, which is the fund-raising arm of the Andes Society for History and Culture. The ASHC owns the Firehall, the Hunting Tavern and the Pleasant Valley Meeting House.

Woodford Brothers, from the Syracuse area, have been contracted to replace the rotted sill on the side of the building that faces the Hotel. The Firehall was built in the 1890s to house two firetrucks and provide a meeting place for the firemen on the second floor. A $5,000 grant from the O’Connor Foundation is helping to defray the cost of this repair.~
