We are back from our Winter break and the Andes Central School students are enjoying the snow!  In fact, we started our “Ski Fridays” at Plattekill on January 12th, and we look forward to skiing all Winter. In December, our CROP after-school program students helped prepare dinners for our senior citizens through our Meals On Wheels program, and they were successfully delivered to many Andes residents. Please keep us posted and phone the school if you would like to be included in that program for next year (845-676-3166).

Currently, our CROP students are participating in a Cooking Up Fun program through Cornell Cooperative Extension. The students are given all the needed ingredients and then participate with a parent in a Zoom call showing them all the steps to cooking a meal for their families. There are seven after-school sessions and it’s not only a practical skill for children to develop the skill of cooking, but parents and children are learning together to create a meal, and everyone reports loving the shared experience.

We have started a monthly Spirit Meet that includes patriotic songs, history lessons, vocabulary lessons, birthday shout-outs, student presentations/award recognitions, and video and photo sharing of school events. It’s a terrific way for us to celebrate all our students while building character and creating close school/community bonds.

Our students look forward to a visit from The Catskill Mountain Shakespeare Company and will be seeing a production of The Tempest in the Spring.

We will be holding a Talent Show on March 26th at 6 pm. All are welcome and invited to attend!  Please stay tuned for upcoming Spring Concert dates in May. ~
