A single source of light in a dark room refracts through dew covered crystal encompassing the circular ruby red wine. I experience this world before taking a sip, as thunder and lightning play beyond the open windows amidst the rain on this late Summer’s night. Peaceful, reassuring quiet of rain on leaf, thrumming the air between the explosions.
Some leaves have already begun to turn. Warblers are migrating early—could this be due to the tremendous loss of their summer habitat in Canada? Seeing warblers that I have never seen migrating through this area, Prairie, Nashville, joined in with the rare Canada Warblers, as well as Least and Yellow Belly Flycatchers. Everything vibrating in the slanted golden light of September.
