HIGHLIGHTS FROM JULY TOWN BOARD MEETING – August 2023

Forrest Day was appointed by the Board to the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) replacing Eric Van Benschoten, who transitioned to the Planning Board.  Day will fill out the unexpired term of Van Benschoten which ends December 31, 2027.

Councilmember Ritchie Gabriel requested that the highway department apply stone and oil to the Fire Department parking lot before the upcoming winter season, as crusher run tends to be pushed aside when winter maintenance is done in the parking lot. Superintendent Bouton agreed.

Supervisor Gladstone expressed his support to the entity seeking to purchase the former Catskills Harvest Property. This potential buyer would like to place a gas station as well as convenience store on the property.

Andes was awarded a $10,000 O’Connor Foundation grant to purchase two new AED (automated external defibrillator) units for the Town Hall and highway garage. The grant will also fund the installation of communications equipment on a county communications tower on Mount Pisgah. The equipment will allow a shared services communication system between Andes Central School and the highway and fire departments.~
