ACS opened its doors to students for the 2021-2022 school year on Tuesday, September 7th.. Faculty and staff reported to the school on Wednesday and Thursday, September 1st and 2nd for Conference Days. We also welcomed two new staff members: Kathleen McMahon as one of our Special Education Teachers and Heather Evangelista, Confidential Secretary to the Superintendent (see photo on back side of the calendar insert).
This summer we were able to make some improvements to the roof on our Little Red School House. We were also able to have the Town of Andes Highway Department come in and help us repave the parking lot.
We are anxious to host our thirteenth annual “Evening of Excellence” on Thursday, September 30, to honor students who maintained an average of 90% or higher during the four quarters of the 2020-2021 school year. This is always a wonderful evening of celebrating these students and their academic accomplishments from the previous school year.
Be aware that school will be closed on Friday, October 8th for a conference day for faculty and staff, as well as Monday, October 11th to celebrate Columbus Day. Andes will be completing its practice Emergency Evacuation Drill (leave 15-minutes early) on Friday, October 22nd.
We are looking forward to another successful school year at Andes Central School and hope to see you at many of the events hosted at Andes Central School this year.~
Kathleen McMahon and Heather Evangelista
