Earth Day is coming and that means it is time to plan our annual litter pickup. We are again looking for volunteers to help in this, the 13th year our group of volunteers has worked to make Andes’ beauty shine. We almost missed last year because of COVID and weather, but we took advantage of the closure of Route 28 during the summer and did an impromptu pickup there one weekend.
This year, we will again be picking up on two days so that we can accommodate those who can only make a weekday and those who can only make a weekend. Andes Litter Pickup Days 2021 will be Wednesday 4/21 and Saturday 4/24 from 9 am to 1 pm. Rain dates will be Wednesday, 4/28 and the following Saturday, 5/1.
Meet at 9 am at the Andes General Store with work gloves, boots, clear plastic garbage bags, your own car, a pack to carry your bags and water, and any “reacher” tools you might have. Wear a bright shirt or jacket or orange vest. We’ll also have yellow vests for those who don’t have their own. You can contact Nancy at 676-3534 / njm331@catskill.net or Ann at 676-3643 / aroberti@catskill.net if you would like to help or to get more information.
Surprisingly, participants report that this is a fun and rewarding activity. So think about joining us this year! If you can’t make our organized litter pickup, perhaps you can join us in spirit by picking up on the road by your home.
Hope to see you there!~
