MOUNTAINEER TRACKS – February 2021

By Dr. Robert L. Chakar, Jr., Superintendent

As we exit the 2020 year and welcome 2021, we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.  As we enter this new year, it is once again getting close to the time for planning 2021-2022. That said, in an effort to determine our census for next year we ask the following: if you are an Andes resident and have a child who will be turning 4-years old by December 1, 2021 and eligible for Pre-Kindergarten; or who will be turning 5-years old by December 1, 2021, and eligible for Kindergarten, please call the school and give us your child’s information.  Additional information will be sent in the coming months.

Our second semester started on February 1st, and I am happy to say that as of this writing, ACS has been able to remain open to full in-person learning for all of our students.  I would like to thank our faculty, staff, students and parents for their dedication and care to insure the safety of everyone in our building. The attention to following the guidelines we set forth at the beginning of the year does not go unnoticed.

ACS “Students of the Month”

Congratulations to our December 2020 “Students of the Month”: Saul Bouquet, Gage Temming, Myaleigh Rabon, Austin George and Lilly Temple.  Great job everyone!

I would like to remind parents that the temperatures are getting colder and we have snow on the ground.  Please remember to dress your children warmly with snow pants, boots, mittens, hats, etc. because they will be going outside for recess as long as temperatures allow.

Lastly, please know that the administration and Board of Education are currently working on the budget for the school year 2021-22 as we plan for the May 18th,  annual meeting and budget vote.~
