Our doors opened on Tuesday, September 8th for the 2020-21 school year seamlessly and with great excitement. It was wonderful to have students back in the building after more than 5 months.
I am happy to report that during the summer, we were able to get the new windows installed that were part of our original capital project.
Be aware that school will be closed on Friday, October 9th for a conference day for faculty and staff, as well as Monday, October 12th to celebrate Columbus Day. Andes will be completing its practice Emergency Evacuation Drill (leave 15-minutes early) on Friday, October 23rd.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we will not be able to hold our annual Evening of Excellence or Fall Open House in October, our Veteran’s Day celebration or school musical in November, or our annual Senior Citizen dinner in December, at this time. These are all activities that the school community looks forward to each year, but we have to think of everyone’s safety first during these trying times.
The week of October 19th – 23rd has been designated as New York State School Board Recognition Week. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those community members who are currently serving on our Board of Education, as well as those who have served in the past. Thank you for the time and dedication you give to the children of Andes.
We are looking forward to another successful school year at the Andes Central School.~
