I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for approving our request to use existing fund balance to increase our capital project budget by $400,000. By supporting the request, the district will be able to recoup $80,000 in State Aid. We appreciate your support very much.
On Tuesday, January 7th, Mr. Andrew Amodeo, our secondary Social Studies teacher, took some of our top students to SUNY Oneonta for the Upstate Academic Competition. The students who represented Andes are listed alphabetically: Emily Andersen, Britney Davila, Lea Edelson, and Mazzy Williams. We’re all very proud of their efforts and for the way they represented their school.
Our Drama Club has started rehearsals for their spring production. On March 27th and 28th they will be performing the musical “Frozen, Jr.”. Stay tuned for further details as we get closer to the dates.
Our Elementary Ski Program has started. Thirty of our students in grades PreK – 6th grade will be going to Plattekill Ski Center on 6 Fridays during the Winter.
I would like to remind parents that the temperatures are getting colder and we have snow on the ground. Please remember to dress your children warmly with snow pants, boots, mittens, hats, etc. Weather permitting, they will be going outside for recess as long as temperatures allow.
Lastly, please know that the administration and Board of Education are currently working on the budget for the school year 2020-21 as we plan for the May 19 annual meeting and budget vote.~
