Donald Lanziero, Air Force Veteran and resident of Andes, was honored September 6th with a Home Town Hero Military Banner sponsored by an anonymous donor.  It was a heartfelt surprise to him and his wife Anita.  A dozen people gathered to help him celebrate the moment when the banner was hung directly across from their home.

  The Andes Advertising Group Stars & Stripes Fund started the banner campaign this year and to date have 30 Home Town Hero Banners proudly displayed throughout the hamlet.

The Stars & Stripes Fund started with hanging American Flags ten years ago and has added flower baskets in Spring along with Holiday decorations in Winter.

The banners and flags are put up before Memorial Day and on display through Veterans Day.
