April is here and let’s hope the showers that bring May flowers are not of the snow kind. I think we can all agree that although our skiers and snowmobile fans have been happy, the rest of us are definitely ready for the spring melt!
Upcoming events and programs:
FREE EYEWEAR ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR CLINIC. On Saturday, April 7th, we have Johanna VanDeusen of Franklin Eyewear coming to the library from 10 am to 12 pm to provide a free Eyeglass Repair and Adjustment Clinic. As long as the frame is able to be repaired, there is absolutely no cost to you.
SEED SWAP! The Andes Library is once again participating in the annual Seed Swap sponsored by Transition Catskills. We have a variety of heirloom seeds available for this year’s season. Packets are available for you to leave seeds that you have saved, or to take what you need from the packets available.
WRITERS IN THE MOUNTAINS: Sharon Ruetenik will once again be presenting her WIM workshop The Journey From Theme to Images to Poem on Mondays from 6 to 8 pm between May 7th and June 18th (skipping Memorial Day.) The workshops will use a series of umbrella themes that participants may interpret in a way meaningful to them, emphasizing the use of imagery and narrative to express an emotional landscape. Both beginning and advanced writers are encouraged to attend, share their work, and give and receive helpful feedback from the other members of the group. The cost of the workshop is $70 for members, $80 for non-members. To register, please use the online registration form at www.writersinthemountains.org, or call or e-mail Jean Stone at 607-326-4802 or jtstone@catskill.net.
LIBRARIES ROCK! This year’s national summer reading program theme is Libraries Rock! We have a variety of concerts, cool music projects and workshops for the kids, as well as reading contests for prizes. If you have any special talents you would like to share or incentive prizes you would like to donate for our summer Summer Reading Program, please let me know at 845-676-3333 or an.ill@4cls.org.
Happy Spring!
