On November 3rd & 5th the Andes Central School Drama Club presented the musical “Annie”. Judging by the comments we have heard, the show was a huge hit. Andes is extremely lucky and proud to have many very talented students as well as many staff and community members who are willing to give up so much of their own time and talents. A huge thank you goes to Elaine Peck, John Bernhardt, Lisa Valkavich and Kellie Daino for all the time that they gave to direct this amazing performance. Also, a huge thank you to Sharon Tucker, who was responsible for most of the props and costumes.

On Wednesday, November 8th, Andes Central School took a school-wide field trip to NYC to see the Broadway show, Wicked. This trip was made possible, in part, by our Arts in Education funding. Thank you to Mrs. Sharon Tucker for all her hard work in making this trip possible and to the ACS PTSA for providing snacks for the long bus ride. We stopped at the Mid-Hudson Buffet on the way home for dinner. What a wonderful day!!!

We were very honored to be able to host some of our Andes Veterans for a breakfast and entertainment on Thursday, November 9th. We had 14 veterans attend and we are hoping for more next year. It was a privilege to be able to recognize them for their service to our country.

On November 17th & 18th, Jay Camuti and James DePierro attended the Area All-State Music Festival. In order to participate, students perform solos at NYSSMA. Students who receive the best scores on the highest levels of NYSSMA solos are selected to participate in Area-All State. Students from all over Zone 8 of New York then come together and perform in large ensembles. Congratulations to our Area All-State students!

We will once again be hosting our senior citizens for a holiday dinner on Friday, December 1st at 1 pm for any Andes resident age 55 or older. This is a way for us to show our appreciation for all of your support through the years. The entire school looks forward to this day. If you would like to attend the dinner, please call the school and leave us your name so that we can prepare enough food.

On Monday, December 11th our elementary and high school students will present their winter concert at 7 pm.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for the positive outcome on our building project vote earlier this Fall. We will now be able to move forward to update and replace many outdated features of our aging building.~
