MOUNTAINEER TRACKS – October 2017

By Robert L. Chakar, Jr., Ed.D.,

Superintendent

Our doors opened on Tuesday, September 5th, for the 2017-18 school year seamlessly and with great excitement.

On October 5th, we will be hosting our ninth annual “Evening of Excellence” to honor students who maintained an average of 90%+ during the entire 2016-17 school year.

Be aware that school will be closed on October 9th to celebrate Columbus Day. School will also be closed on Friday, October 20th for a conference day for faculty and staff. Lastly, Andes will be completing its practice Emergency Evacuation Drill (leave 15 minutes early) on Friday, October 27th.

The week of October 23rd – 27th has been designated as New York State School Board Recognition Week. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those community members who are currently serving on our Board of Education, as well as those who have served in the past. Thank you for the time and dedication you give to the children of Andes.

Lastly, during November, our Drama Club is planning to present its fall show of Annie on November 3rd, 4th & 5th. Rehearsals have started and will continue through the coming weeks.

Our annual Senior Citizen dinner is scheduled for Friday, December 1st, at 1 pm. We always look forward to seeing our Andes Senior Citizens and being able to thank them for all their support throughout the years.

We are looking forward to another successful school year and hope to see you at many of the events hosted here this year.~
