We have much to be proud of at ACS. On Wednesday afternoon, April 20th, the newest members of the Dr. J.D. Frisbee Chapter of the National Honor Society were inducted during a school assembly. We congratulate James DePierro, Alexis Redden and Laurynn Weaver, the newest members of the Andes Central School Dr. J.D. Frisbee Chapter of the National Honor Society.
Andes Central School is also proud to announce the valedictorian and salutatorian for the 2016 graduating class. Allison Long, the daughter of Christopher and Djennarra Long of Andes, has been named valedictorian of the Class of 2016. Allison has served as president of the Class of 2016, Student Council, SADD, Outdoor Club and Ski Club. She has also been Treasurer of National Honor Society. She has played Varsity Golf, Basketball and Track and Field. As a member of the Drama Club, Allison has also appeared in many school musicals during her years at ACS. After high school Allison plans to attend SUNY Geneseo and major in Adolescent Mathematics Education.
Belle Bourke, daughter of Lester Bourke and Cyndi Wright of Andes and Mary Bourke of Margaretville, has been named salutatorian of the Class of 2016. While attending Andes, Belle has played Varsity Basketball and Softball, has been a member of the Outdoor Club, Travel Club, SADD, and the Drama Club where she appeared in many school musicals. She has also served as the Secretary of the Class of 2016. After high school Belle plans to attend the College of Saint Rose and major in music industry.
Cheyenne Weaver recently qualified for the New York State Outdoor State Championships (NYSPHSAA) Track and Field meet to be held on June 10th & 11th in Cicero, New York. Cheyenne threw a personal best, and school record, 36ˊ7 ½˝ in the Shot Put at the CVS Relays on May 2nd. She is currently the second seed overall in both Divisions I and II for the State Qualifier meet in Vestal on June 4th. In addition to her success in the Shot Put, she has qualified provisionally for the State Qualifier meet in the Discus Throw. We wish Cheyenne luck in this competition!
