During the last few months, members of our Drama Club have been busy preparing for their next production; “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” which will be presented on Friday, March 4th and Saturday, March 5th at 7:00 pm. We hope you will all come out and support our students and all the hard work that goes into these productions.
At the time of this writing, 10 students from our Travel Club, along with 3 chaperones, and 4 members of the senior class and their 2 chaperones, are enjoying the warm temperatures in Puerto Rico. We hope to be able to share more about their trips in the next issue.
Over 30 of our children in grades K–6 have been enjoying going to Plattekill Ski Center on Fridays for a day of skiing. Even with the warmer temperatures and lack of snow, they have still been able to enjoy skiing. This is a great chance for the little ones to learn to ski and enjoy the snow. We would like to thank everyone for the donations to our Elementary Ski Club, which helps lower the cost to families.
On Wednesday, February 3rd, Mrs. Whittaker and Mr. VanValkenburgh took 14 students from our business classes to the Barclay Center in Brooklyn to attend a business seminar and then to watch a game between the Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers.
The third quarter began on February 1st. On February 9th, 65% of our 5-12 students were recognized at the Academic Recognition assembly for meeting requirements for either Honor, High Honor or Superintendent’s List during the 2nd quarter. One student in each grade PreK-4th was also recognized for their special efforts during the 2nd quarter. They all received certificates and a coupon for free ice cream in the school cafeteria.
Lastly, the administration and Board of Education are currently working on the budget for the school year 2016-17 as we plan for the May 17th annual meeting and budget vote.~
