THE SAVORY TABLE from your Andes Community Food Bank – October 2015

“It’s difficult to think Picture8anything but pleasant thoughts while eating a homegrown tomato.”

-Lewis Grizzard, American writer and humorist

The congregation of Bovina Presbyterian Church brought an awesome array of wonderful fresh produce to the Food Bank – beautiful beans, extravagant eggplant, extreme zucchini, winter squash and much more.  Many, many thanks to Pastor Garrett Schindler and the congregation for this bountiful bonanza.

The Snack Pack program for Andes Central School students has expanded to include 3rd grade.  Each of thirty-seven children receives a pack of 5-6 healthy snacks to take home every Friday.   Feedback from parents and school staff tells us that the children love their healthy snacks and many are learning to diversify their snacking habits. This program is entirely community-supported by funding from friends and neighbors in Andes.   Consider a gift to help us keep the program going? Checks may be made out to “Andes Presbyterian Church”, which manages the fund.
