Andes Central School will open its doors to students for the 2015-16 school year on Tuesday, September 8th.
We have hired Ms. Cheryl Butler as our new special education teacher, replacing Ms. Judith Klueg, who retired at the end of last year. We have also hired Ms. Nicole Bishop as guidance counselor, to replace Mr. Glenn Reynolds, who has also retired. We are in the process of hiring a new part-time science teacher to replace Ms. Dawn Brown, who has taken a full-time position at a neighboring school district.
This year we will be continuing our One-to-One Laptop Program for students in grades 7-12. We have renewed our lease with Apple and will be replacing our current laptops with newer, more current models, which the students will be receiving this fall.
We are eager to host our seventh annual “Evening of Excellence” on Thursday, October 1st, to honor students who maintained an average of 90.0% or higher during the four quarters of the 2014-15 school year. This is always a wonderful evening of celebrating these students and their academic accomplishments from the previous school year.
The Drama Club is planning to present its fall show on November 6th and 7th. Rehearsals will be starting shortly after school begins. Please look for more information as we move closer to the production dates. Our school has once again merged with South Kortright Central School for our fall soccer and boys’ basketball; all the students continue to do very well with the transition. We are again planning to take a school-wide field trip to NYC to see a Broadway show later this fall.
We are looking forward to another successful school year at Andes Central
