As we look forward to spring and warmer temperatures, ACS has been busy with many upcoming events.  Our next musical, “The Little Mermaid” is scheduled for March 6th & 7th at 7 pm.  Please be on the lookout for more information as we get closer to those dates.

In addition, our students are being given another opportunity to see the world.  Our Travel Club advisors, Mr. Jeff Rhone, Mr. Ed McGee and Mrs. Tamara Titch, have organized a wonderful learning opportunity for 11 of our sophomores and juniors to go to St. John in the Virgin Islands. While there, they will camp at Cinnamon Bay Campground.  Most of their time will be spent hiking and snorkeling in the Virgin Islands National Park.

Members of the ACS Class of 2015 will be heading to Puerto Rico for their senior trip this February. They will be spending their first three days on the island of Culebra where they will be snorkeling, enjoying the beaches, and sampling some of the local fare. The second half of the trip will be spent on the mainland of Puerto Rico. They will be visiting the Bioluminescent Bay, a Nature Preserve, El Yunque rain forest, and old San Juan.  Their class advisor, Ms. Grace Bacon, has been helping them facilitate this opportunity.  They have been working to raise funds since they were seventh graders and are eager for their trip.

On Tuesday, January 6th, Ms. Misty LeRoux, our secondary Math teacher, took some of the best and brightest students to SUNY Oneonta for the Upstate Academic Competition.  The students who represented Andes are listed alphabetically: Serena Bacon, Torin Bacon, Belle Bourke, Noah Dougherty, Adriel Grapes, Allison Long, and Cassandra Storey.  Andes beat Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton in the first round and lost to Cooperstown A in the next round.

Lastly, the administration and Board of Education are currently working on the budget for the school year 2015-16 as we plan for the May 19th annual meeting and budget vote.~
