On October 2, Andes Central School celebrated the 6th annual “Evening of Excellence” to recognize those students in grades 7-12 who maintained an average of 90% + for all 4 quarters during the 2013-14 school year.  Approximately 50 people enjoyed the evening with food provided by My Hero. Students recognized this year were Torin Bacon, Ariel Melvin, Cassandra Storey, Belle Bourke, Adriel Grapes, Allison Long, Serena Bacon, Montana Damone, Noah Dougherty, Winifred Richards-Consigny, Peter James DePierro, Alexis Redden, Jessica Ruppert and Michaela Valkavich.  ACS is very proud of these students and their academic achievements.

On October 22, ACS took a school-wide field trip to NYC to see Aladdin on Broadway, for any students and staff who wanted to go.  This day was made possible by Arts in Education monies and a grant from the O’Connor Foundation. Approximately 75 students in PreK-12 and 20 staff members, along with a few parents, boarded the Eastern Travel buses around 8:30 a.m. for the trip to NYC to see the matinee performance, which was enjoyed by everyone very much.  Everyone enjoyed dinner on the way home at the Mid-Hudson Buffet.  Thank you to Ms. Sharon Tucker, who organized the whole trip.  A great time was had by all!!!

Our Drama Club is working hard getting ready for their production of The Sound of Music” on Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15.  Again, there will be students of all ages, as well as many staff members and even community members, taking part in this production.

Recently, we have completed the installation of a new boiler in the main building.  The old boilers are approximately 40 years old, and one was in need of major repairs.  We were able to purchase and install a new boiler before the cold winter weather sets in.~
