ACS will open its doors to students for the 2014-15 school year on Thursday, September 4th. The Early Learning Center/Bus Garage building has received a fresh coat of paint this summer and our fuel tanks located at the bus garage have been removed. Our tanks were out of compliance and needed to be replaced at an anticipated cost of $60,000. In order to save the taxpayers, ACS has entered into a municipal agreement/contract with the Town of Andes to do a shared service of purchasing gasoline and diesel instead of replacing our tanks.  ACS will now fill its buses and other vehicles at the Town of Andes Highway Building.  This collaborative endeavor is a wonderful example of sharing to save the taxpayers.  We are also in the process of replacing one of the boilers in the main school building.

We are anxious to host our sixth annual “Evening of Excellence” on Thursday, October 2nd, to honor students who maintained an average of 90.0% or higher during the four quarters of the 2013-14 school year.  This is always a wonderful evening of celebrating these students and their academic accomplishments from the previous school year.

The Drama Club is planning to present its fall show on November 14th and 15th.  Rehearsals will be starting shortly after school begins.  Please look for more information as we move closer to the production dates.  Our school has once again merged with South Kortright Central School for our fall soccer and boys’ basketball; all the students are doing very well with the transition.  We are also planning to take a school-wide field trip to NYC to see “Aladdin” on Broadway this fall.

We are looking forward to another successful school year at Andes Central School and hope to see you at many of the events we are hosting.~
