LIBRARY NOTES – July 2014

By Barbara Mellon

The snow birds are back and the summer residents are returning, so there has been a lot of activity here at the library. From stocking up on books and DVDs to enjoying Wi-Fi in the gazebo, folks are taking advantage of the services we offer.

A great crowd turned out for our annual Open House. Mother Nature blessed us with perfect weather for an afternoon of camaraderie, tasty treats and Peter Lederman and Bill Piervincenzi’s toe-tapping tunes. Our thanks to all who joined us, and also to all who responded to our request for donations. It is through your support that we are able to continue to serve the people of Andes.

Movie night has continued to be a hit. In June we saw “Saving Mr. Banks,” a lovely movie that made me think we should be supplying tissues along with the popcorn; I’m positive I saw a number of people surreptitiously wiping tears from their eyes. Join us this month on Thursday, July 10 at 7 pm for the next film; as yet the title is undetermined.

A brief reminder. If you or someone you know has trouble getting to the library, it is still possible to borrow books, audiobooks or DVDs. Call us at the library at 676-3333 and we can arrange to deliver items to your home. ~
