Our Drama Club will be welcoming community members to view their production of “Star Trek Goes Broadway”, a screenplay written by Jonathan Andrews and John Bernhardt, on Saturday, May 3rd at 7 pm and on Sunday, May 4th at 2 pm. The student body is also excited that their Junior Prom is scheduled for May 17th in our gymnasium. Lastly, this year’s Open House will also be held on May 20th, the same date as the budget vote. Open House will be from 6:30 to 8 pm.
The Board of Education has been working diligently to prepare a school budget which will stay within the tax levy threshold of 0.71%. That said, the Board has proposed a tax levy increase of 0.71%, which is at the legal limit under a simple majority vote. We are pleased that there are no reductions in the educational program or staffing for next year. We will continue to be efficient with our combined grades of pre-k and K, grades 1 & 2, and grades 5 & 6. The Board is also managing increases in mandated costs such as salaries, health insurance and retirement costs and increases in energy costs.
The public hearing on the budget will take place at 7 pm on Thursday, May 8 in the Distance Learning classroom and voting on the budget and board of education members, as well as a proposition to purchase a new 22 passenger school bus, will take place on Tuesday, May 20 from noon to 8 pm in the Fitness Room.
