LIBRARY NOTES – January 2014

By Barbara Mellon

Our Silent Auction, held on November 16th, was quite the success in a number of ways. More than 50 people joined us for an afternoon of conviviality sprinkled with trays of yummy refreshments while studying the wide variety of items to be auctioned off.   After some spirited yet friendly competition, just shy of one hundred treasures went home with winning bidders. The proceeds will help tremendously in ensuring our little library continues to offer patrons the books, DVDs and services they require. The trustees and staff of the Andes Public Library are so thankful for the community’s support of this event.

Following the annual tree-lighting in Bohlmann Park, the library’s Community Room was once again the site of a visit from Santa Claus, arranged and sponsored by the PTSA.  There is nothing as musical as the sounds of happy children full of the wonders of this holiday!

With winter in full swing, we advise you to call us at 676-3333 before heading to the library during bad weather. While we do try to stick to the posted hours, the safety of our staff, volunteers and patrons is of utmost importance and could require us to close the library when road conditions are dangerous. Also, please remember that you can save a trip by calling us to renew items. If no one answers, just leave a message, or send an email to an.ill @4cls.org. ~
