We must be doing something right here at the Andes Public Library. After days and days of grayness and rain, and before even more showers fell upon us, Mother Nature treated us to an absolutely glorious Sunday for our annual Open House. What a spectacular afternoon it was! Close to fifty people showed up to enjoy the tasty treats created by a bevy of kitchen-savvy volunteers, tap their toes and bob their heads to the lively tunes produced by The Godforsaken??? String Band under the trees by the stream, and chatter away the hours with friends new and old. Once again I attempted to capture the day in photographs but was, for the most part, thwarted by my preference to join in the fun rather than document it.
Looking for things to do this summer? A variety of new programs are being added to the library’s schedule. Join us for Word Games at 7 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, and for Movie Night on the 4th Thursday. On July 25th at 7 pm we’ll be showing the family film “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale.” Then on Tuesday, July 23rd, our own Buffy Calvert will be interviewed by Judy Garrison about her recently published books, An Affair of the Heart and Wellsprings, wonderful volumes full of rich stories. And for the kids, Story Laurie McIntosh will again present Digging in to the Art of Nature, a series of workshops to be held on July 8th, July 22nd and August 5th at 6:30 pm. For more information, contact the library at 676-3333 or email Laurie at storylaurie@gmail.com. ~
