As we approach spring, a lot of wonderful happenings are occurring at Andes. Our Drama Production of Alice in Wonderland held on Friday, March 9th and Saturday, March 10th was a fabulous presentation of the talents of our children, faculty, and community members. The production took some time in the making under the leadership of Mr. Ed Sanford and Ms Eloise Harris, who oversaw the production. We would also like to thank Pete Valkavich and James Litaker for their set design and construction, Kathy Whittaker and Sharon Tucker for their costume design, Lisa Valkavich for her assistance to the choreographer, John Bernhardt for line prompting, Steve Swanson for being part of the stage crew and Maureen O’Reilly, Jennifer Andersen and Juliette Consigny who coordinated the “Woodland Creatures”. The play would not have been as successful without the help of any of the above volunteers.
On another note, as Andes moves through the month of April and into May, the Board has been working diligently preparing a budget for the community to vote on in May. As you may have heard, the “2% tax levy,” is really a “2% adjusted school tax levy.” This means that the amount of money that Andes can request is based on an 8-step formula provided by New York State, using data specific to Andes.
In Andes, for your Board to keep within the law of the “2% adjusted school tax levy” requirement for the 2012-2013 school year, we are proposing a school tax levy increase of 1.13%. ~
