On October 6th Andes Central School celebrated its 3rd Annual “Evening of Excellence”, honoring the 13 students in grades 8-12 who maintained an average of 90% or higher for the four quarters of the 2010-11 school year. We are proud of our young people and are enjoying this new tradition of recognizing our best and brightest. Approximately 50 family members attended the event and enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by Hogan’s General Store. Each student received a medallion and Certificate of Accomplishment. Students honored were: 8th graders – Allison Long and Adriel Grapes, 9th graders – Torin Bacon and Cassandra Storey, 10th graders – Jennifer Andrews, Jonathan Andrews, and Josephine DeSanto, 11th graders- Kelsey Little and Tristin Tait, and 12th graders – Matthew Armstrong, Sage Beemer, Lonny Chin, and Ashley Terry.
Work on our greenhouse is progressing nicely. Mr. Ken Brown and his class have taken a leadership role in the building of all the raised beds and filled them with soil. Mr. McGee’s and Mr. Rhone’s students put the plastic over the greenhouse and we should be ready to start growing plants very soon. The work of our Greenhouse Committee continues to demonstrate that great things happen with teamwork.
