SENIORS ON THE GO – February 2011

By Mary Tucker

Once again we had a small group for our January 20th meeting. Reports for inclement weather and health concerns kept many home. Pastor Susan Woodworth, interim minister at the Methodist Church, opened the meeting with prayer. “Pastor Sue”, who had previously worked in the Delaware County area, had some free time between appointments and decided to come to our meeting to visit with old friends and meet new members.

During the course of the meeting a list of dates to remember were brought up. On February 6th, a film, “Janet’s Class”, made by Dorothy Lyman will be shown at the Andes Hotel at 7:00 pm. The $10 fee will benefit the Andes Presbyterian Church roof fund. Reservations should be made for that evening’s dinner that will get you in to see the show.

The Senior Council pancake breakfast will be at the Hamden Town Hall on March 5th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Look for more information about this event in the March Gazette; be sure to save that date.

On March 8th the Andes Presbyterian Church will host a pancake supper from 5 to 7:00 pm. Proceeds will benefit the church in Walton that burned down recently.

Coming up at our March 17th St. Patrick’s Day meeting: “Pastor Sue” and her husband, Pastor Bob Kersten, will provide music and lead a sing-along of Irish songs. This is another “save the date” event; it should be fun so plan to be there.

Our next meeting is on February 16th, same time, same place. Hope to see you there.  ~
