Can you believe it? Seems that 2010 went by in a flash. The last few weeks have been busy getting ready for the holiday season, shopping, baking, decorating, picking out a tree. And wrapping gifts, sending cards, getting to the post office before it’s too late.
After all the hustle and bustle is complete, it’s time to take a moment to reflect on the past year, thinking of loved ones who are no longer with us, family, friends, neighbors and those who are ill at home, hospitalized or in nursing homes. Then we recall the weather, changing day by day, the typical Andes winter with snow for Christmas, January thaw, of course a March snowstorm. Then spring with snowmelt, trees and lawns greening, summer’s intense heat. Remember the day the thermometer reached the nineties and the weeks without a drop of rain; then the threat of flooding followed by a beautiful fall. Now it’s back to winter. Goodbye 2010. Welcome 2011!
Now taking time to remember the happy times we recall meeting with friends who return to Andes for reunions, graduations and Andes Community Day along with many other affairs that take place in our community through the year, such as weddings, births, anniversaries and events sponsored by the school, our churches, the Andes Public Library, the Historical Society and other organizations. There is always something going on in Andes.
As we look forward to 2011 let’s hope for good health, peace and prosperity in the world, courage to get through bad days, and to work together to make it a wonderful new year.
