Andes welcomes the 2010–2011 school year with great enthusiasm. Several changes in personnel have taken place during the summer. Andes hired a new Math teacher, Ms. Misty LeRoux, replacing Mrs. Jeanine Scinta-Sass who has moved on. Ms. LeRoux has several years of teaching experience and will bring her enthusiasm for Math and technology to our district. In addition, while long time educator Mrs. Barbara Cole retired this July 2010, we requested she come back as a part-time Home and Careers teacher to fill the void in our teacher ranks. Andes also welcomes Mr. Ken Brown to teach technology to grades 6, 7 and 8. Mr. Brown retired from the Onteora School District after 35 years in the education field.

ACS held a community enrichment program in archery during the months of September and October. Several adults and students attended and had a great time learning how to shoot a bow and arrow. Many thanks to Bob Titch, Pat Weaver and Aaron Titch for sharing their knowledge.

In addition, Andes Central School would like to announce that the Charlotte Valley C.S.D. in Davenport has appointed Ms. Judyth Barnett to take over the position of Earth Science teacher. Ms. Barnett will be teaching Earth Science to 9th grade students at Andes Central School through the Distance Learning Network. Ms. Barnett comes to the position with considerable teaching experience. She holds a bachelor degree from SUNY Oneonta in Earth Science, Secondary Education; and is close to completing her masters degree from SUNY Oneonta in Earth Science. ~
