I am pleased to share that the Andes Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Soccer Teams are experiencing one of their combined winningest seasons. Our Girls’ Team, led by head coaches, Mr. Little and Mrs. Noonan, and our boys’ team led by Mr. VanValkenburgh are enjoying this season’s games. The fruit of all their previous seasons hard work is now coming to bear.

In addition to our athletics, our Class of 2010 has begun the college application process and will be working during the next months preparing their profiles and acceptances into the university. The college application process is being spearheaded with the assistance of our guidance counselor, Mr. Reynolds.

Ms. Noonan, Ms. Ennist, and Ms. Tucker’s classes will be working with Open Eye Theater to practice and put on a couple of plays. They will be performing them in the Andes gym on October 29th at 6:30 p.m.

The Andes National Honor Society (Advisor, Kathy Whittaker) and NYS Business Honor Society will be holding a dinner in the Andes Gym on Tuesday, October 27th at 6:00 pm to honor all the members of the Andes Fire Department, the Andes Fire Auxiliary, and the Andes Emergency Squad. The dinner will consist of pulled pork with rolls (for sandwiches if they like), cole slaw, macaroni and potato salads, baked beans and a brownie sundae dessert. We are honored that Assemblyman Clifford Crouch has graciously agreed to be the guest speaker at our dinner. The members of the National and Business Honor Societies will be presenting Honor Certificates to these public service volunteers in recognition of all they do for the Andes School and Community.

Lastly, the building project is still on schedule. Our playground is in the process of being finalized to the ADA requirements and should be back in operation for our students in a week or so. The back parking lot will be blacktopped by the end of the month. Andes is currently working closely with the architect, the contractors and our Clerk of the Works. ~
