Library Services: The Andes Library is a member of the Four County Library System which provides a broad range of shared services. One of these services is the interlibrary loan. By logging onto www.4cls.org every library patron can search and reserve books which will be delivered to our library. Your library card gives you free access. Some patrons may prefer to have the librarians order selections for them, while others may enjoy searching for books from home. Our staff is available to demonstrate and instruct our patrons in use of the 4CLS services…just ask.
Library Programs: On Saturday, September 12, the Andes Library hosted a program entitled “What You Need to Know About Gas Drilling in the Catskills”. With over 50 people in attendance, Wes Gillingham of the Catskill Mountainkeeper and writer Anne Saxon-Hersh elaborated on the drilling technology known as hydrofracturing and showed aerial photographs taken from drilling sites in Pennsylvania. These gas drilling sites use hydrofracturing, the technology that would be used in our region above the Marcellus and Utica shale formations. Many environmental and health concerns were raised and several online resources were provided. If you are interested in learning more about this subject you may want to access some of the resources listed below. A complete list of resources is available at the library.
