The Andes Senior Club picked the right day, Monday, October 27, a beautiful day for their recent trip, the day before a snowstorm that shut down the area for several days. Our visit to the Woodlock Pines Resort in Hawley, Pennsylvania for their Oktoberfest was a great success. Boat rides on the lake were scheduled from 11:00 to noon. Some intrepid souls braved the chill winds; the rest of us visited the gift shop or relaxed in a comfortable sitting area leading to the dining room where we enjoyed a buffet dinner of hot and cold German specialties, ending with a choice of German Chocolate Cake or Apple Strudel. After dinner, The Joe Linder Trio played three types of accordions, drums and pianos. German frauleins encouraged the audience to join in the singing and dancing. A number of our Andes group participated in the fun. Another very good trip arranged by Gerald Norris.
Our Christmas Party will be at noon on Thursday, December 18th at the Methodist Church. Marie Gladstone will cook turkey; others should bring a holiday type dish to pass. To participate in the Yankee Gift Swap, bring a wrapped gift of $5.00 value. ~
