On April 9th, Jen Finkle’s first grade students, during their bi-weekly visit to the library, shared with us books that they wrote, illustrated & published! Jen’s class usually comes to the library so that I can read and tell stories to them. This time, they turned things around. What a gift to have these talented young students read aloud their very own creations. With titles such as “Dogs”, “Turtles”, “Houses”, “Frogs” and “Penguins”, these non-fiction works delight readers with many fascinating facts. For example, did you know that “penguins like to cuddle”? Or that “turtles have to lay eggs or else they will become endangered”?
The single-issue books of the First Grade Publishing Company are on display at the Library. While they are not available for circulation, we do strongly encourage you to enjoy reading them during your next visit to the Andes Library. ~
