LIBRARY NOTES – May 2008

By Valerie BrownOur library has received an Opportunity Online Hardware matching grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We were granted $3850 of which we are responsible to cover 25%, or $960. In addition, on April 7th and 8th, the library staff attended a conference created by the Public Library Association, which provided training and information to assist us in developing a local advocacy work plan for our library. It was also an opportunity to network with our peers and share ideas.

On April 10th, the first meeting of the Community Library Advisors met at the Andes Fire Hall to review and revise the vision for Andes and what services the library can provide. This group recommended three primary service areas for our library to focus on over the next five years: Current Topics and Titles, Lifelong Learning, and being a Community Commons. The group will meet again on May 15th. ~
