The tree on Fall Clove is decorated with garland and ornaments and even gifts under the tree (wrapped in waterproof bags to keep them dry!
Special Christmas trees are brought to be decorated in big cities: the White House Tree, Rockefeller Center Tree, and Edna Joslin’s Wall Street Tree. You won’t see the Fall Clove Tree in the papers or on television, but it is there nonetheless, growing on a hillside on the right side of the road about one mile from the Cabin Hill end of Route 2. Betty Little and I decided to decorate this tree about 3 years ago and have continued. After Thanksgiving, on a nice sunny day, we cleared the brush and weeds around the tree, then shaped it a bit. The next sunny day we decorated the bottom using decorations accumulated over the past years. We couldn’t reach the top without a stepladder. Either the tree grew or we got shorter. On November 29th we had a sunny afternoon; we dragged a stepladder up the hill, put a star on top along with more decorations. It’s done for 2007!! Already we have bigger and better plans for the 2008 Fall Clove Christmas Tree. ~
