AUXILIARY SERVES UP SUPPORT FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT — June 2007

By Barbara Mellon

If you didn’t make it to the Andes Fire Department Auxiliary “Chicken & Biscuit” dinner at the Fire Hall last month, you missed quite an evening. The tables were always full as over 140 people enjoyed a tasty meal of chicken in gravy over biscuits, served with salad and beverages. For those with a sweet tooth, an array of homemade desserts was also available. In addition to the meal, a couple of raffles were also held.  Pam Peterson was the lucky winner who took home a basket of wine, and Gerry Murphy was delighted with the array of preserves he won.

Between the raffle tickets and the free-will donations accepted at the door, the Auxiliary brought in quite a decent sum which will help them in their mission of offering aid to the Andes Fire Department.

Jane Berghammer, President of the Auxiliary, expressed her appreciation to all of the volunteers of the Fire Department for the work they do in protecting the community.  She also offered thanks to Don Hogan and the Margaretville Liquor Store for their donations for the raffle prizes and meal.

The Andes Fire Department Auxiliary will hold their next fundraiser at the annual Dairy Fest on June 9th and 10th in Meridale where they will have a pancake breakfast in the morning, followed by hot dogs and hamburgers later in the day. Please make an effort to stop by and support your local Fire Department.  ~
