Happy New Year!
This is a special note of gratitude to all involved with our 2nd annual Christmas parade, successfully delivering Santa Claus to the Andes Library for our town Christmas Tree and Nativity lighting. Of special mention are Dick Winner, our organizer, Fire Chief Dale Tait and ALL of the Andes Fire Department, Andes EMS, Allison Oil, Arena Fire Department, Delhi Fire Department, as well as Bud and Suzanne Gladstone, Maureen O’Reilly and gang! Extra applause goes out to the Catskill Mountain Christian Center of Margaretville for their Nativity float, reminding us all about the true meaning of the Season. Job well done by all…Thank you.
And what a treat it was! Having enjoyed Andes for the past 6 years, my husband John and I have relished all Andes has to offer, with the exception of being here during the Holiday Season. This is our first, and Andes does not disappoint. The old world charm of Main Street, with beautifully decorated storefronts, peppered with the new holiday flair, spotlights Andes’ overall uniqueness that we all have come to love so much.
Last year, Lauren Atcher of the Andes General Store spawned the idea of a Christmas parade to deliver Santa Claus to the Andes Library for the traditional Christmas Tree and Nativity Lighting. This year, Lauren’s busy schedule didn’t allow a spare moment to organize it, so Dick Winner, on behalf of the Andes Chamber of Commerce, took the reins and created a spectacular parade!
The crowds, the children, the lights, the horns, holiday music echoing on the street, the spark of lighting the Town Tree and the Nativity Scene, the Andes Library a delightful, well organized haven for Santa to visit with each wide-eyed child, topped with the Hunting Tavern’s generous, cozy, delicious soup buffet created holiday cheer I hadn’t felt in a long time. It made me hunger for more…stay tuned for next year!
The seasons come and go every year to help teach us gratitude. Although I practice gratitude on a regular basis, this season I give extra warm thanks to all, with genuine, loving wishes for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!~
