VOTING IN THE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY – April 2016

IF YOU ARE REGISTERED AS A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN YOU MAY VOTE IN THE PRESIDENTAL PRIMARY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 19.  NOON TO 9 P.M.

New York State Law requires that you be registered in the party having the primary in order to vote in that primary (unlike in other states you may have witnessed on TV).

The last day to register for the April 19th Primary was March 25th. There will be a Federal Primary June 28 for electing Congressional candidates, so if you are not registered, know there is time to register for that and future elections this year.

Many people have recently inquired of the county election office about changing their enrollment. New York State Election Law §5-304.3 states that a change of enrollment does not become effective until the Tuesday following the General Election, provided it was submitted at least 25 days before the General Election. It is not possible to change your party now for this year’s primary elections.

Reminder: The polling place for Andes Election District 1 voters is at the new Town Court, 5287 County Highway 1 (adjoining the water treatment plant).
