LIBRARY NOTES – May 2011

By Barbara Mellon

Now that Spring is here (at least sporadically) construction will soon begin on the deck and gazebo which will overlook the serenity of Bohlmann Park and the stream tumbling beside it. What a luxurious spot to enjoy a book, access the internet through your wireless device, or just contemplate the beauty of the landscape around us! The Library Board and staff hope to christen the new space as we welcome patrons and supporters with our annual Open House on June 12th from 3-6. More information in next month’s column.

The Wellness Committee of the Auxiliary of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center has made delivered to our library a set of informational videos on a number of health and wellness topics. Included are titles such as Managing Diabetes, Summer Time Emergencies and Dispelling the Myths & Finding the Truth: Women & Heart Disease. The DVDs are available for borrowing, or you can view these and other programs at www.hahv.org/margaretvillehospital  from any of our public access computers.

If you or someone you know would like to borrow books or movies from the Andes Public Library but are unable to make the trip into town, do give us a call at 676-3333. We have willing volunteers who would be glad to drop off items for you to enjoy. ~
