With Memorial Day coming up, the Gazette staff decided to find out who would be on the minds of some of our friends and neighbors, whether veterans or not.
Nora Cole: I miss going to auctions with my very good friend, Helen Avery–we were like sisters.
Mary Drew: I’ll miss my Dad, Michael Joseph Bendik. He was in the Navy; a World War II veteran. He served on the destroyer SS Jenkins.
Bill Drew: – I will be thinking of all the veterans who have passed, including my father, Richard Drew, who was a TEC Sergeant in the Army. I try to do something for a living veteran rather than wait until they’re gone.
Mary Behrer: I miss my mother, Charlotte Comfort. She’s buried here in Andes.
Evelyn Norris: I miss my grandson, Jeremiah Conger Norris, so much. I can’t believe he’s been gone 9 years.
Mary Tucker: I miss Aasta Liddle coming to our morning ‘coffee clatch’. Aasta would bring the ‘jumble’ puzzle and we would all work on getting it done.
Joe Grieco: misses his beloved wife Mary, George Redden, Lloyd T. Johns (Red), and Walter Coddington, especially on Memorial Day.
