NEW FROM THE AUXILIARY – November 2006

By Phyllis Kochersberger

The Auxiliary of the Andes Fire Department had a wonderful turnout for their annual International Cuisine Buffet held on October 7th. Many folks helped out by cooking their special dishes, making a dessert, or pitching in to work at the dinner. We owe them all a huge Thank You!

Auxiliary member Jacinto donated a fan for the raffle as well as his usual Wine and Cheese basket. Joe Henn of Andes won the lovely ceiling fan, and Stacey Smith won the Basket of Cheer. The Auxiliary wants to thank Jacinto for inviting his friends from Margaretville and Roxbury to help us by serving food.

Mary Tucker won the Dessert Contest with her Italian Love Cake (see recipe on this page). We want to thank all who made desserts for us and once again, the Auxiliary did a lot and a good job. We always know we can depend on other folks to help us out when asked: Judy Garrison, Brooke Alderson, Ellen Weaver, Gerard Murphy, John Ballard, Janis Reynolds, Doris Stevens, Diana Johnson, Nathan Seals, Mary Tucker, and if we missed your name, please forgive us, because we are so thankful to have your dedication and support. It was truly a busy night.

Our Auxiliary is having our annual Election day lunch and supper at the Fire Hall with help from the Presbyterian church folks on Nov. 7th from 11 am to 7 pm. We have done this fundraiser together for many years now and each year we take turns with the Methodist women’s group and the Presbyterians. The amount raised goes to both organizations 50-50.

We will be serving chili, rolls, homemade soups, sandwiches, drinks, and lots of pies and other desserts. Yum, Yum, Yum.

So with all this said, if you would like to make a favorite chili or soup to donate, please contact Auxiliary President Jane Berghammer at 676-3529. Once again, thank you so much!
